Methodist Medical Center Newborn Coverage

Effective October 8, Ramon Sitek, M.D. and the physicians of Texas Inpatient Pediatric Services (TIPS) will be rounding on our babies born at Methodist Medical Center.  While our ABCD physicians can better serve our patient population by seeing children in the office setting, these hospitalist sub-specialists will be available to take care of any newborn needs until discharge.  Our newborns will then follow up with us in the office within 3 days of discharge.  TIPS has been seeing our established patients while hospitalized for several years now.  We work closely with them and they are in contact with us on an ongoing basis.

Tylenol Recall

You may have heard that McNeil Consumer Healthcare, the makers of Tylenol, is voluntarily recalling certain lots of Children's and Infants' TYLENOL liquid products that were manufactured between April, 2008 and June, 2008.  The company is implementing this voluntary recall at the retail level because examination of one of the inactive ingredients did not meet internal testing requirements.  They found a particular bacteria, which has not been found to be harmful if ingested.

The voluntary recall applies only to select lots of Children's and Infants TYLENOL liquid products.  You can find a list of the product descriptions and the effected Lot/Code/UPC numbers at their website at www.tylenol.com.  If you have any of these products in your home and have questions you can contact the McNeil Consumer Call Care Center at 1-800-962-5357.

The doctors at ABCD Pediatrics are not overly concerned about this recall and possible harm to our patients.  If you believe your child has ingested any of these recalled Tylenol products, observe them for illness and contact us if he/she becomes ill.  We encourage you to check your Tylenol supplies at home to ensure you do not have any of the product being recalled.

Pediatric Advisor Now Available

Take a look at the new ABCD Pediatric Advisor , a new tool containing health information and advice on hundreds of health topics that are of interest to our patients and parents. The information is listed alphabetically by subject, can be easily printed, and comes in both English and Spanish versions in most cases. Need to know what to use on that nasty diaper rash or sunburn, need help with how to comfort your child during a medical procedure, or help with how to determine how serious that fever is? You can find it all and more at the new ABCD Pediatric Advisor. You will want to bookmark this very helpful site to refer to again and again.
