ABCD Announces new Patient Portal
We are pleased to announce that we are offering our patients and parents a user-friendly, HIPAA compliant and secure web portal, where we are able to communicate with you about a number of healthcare issues. After registering on this new portal, we will be able to send you secure email messages on a variety of topics, such as appointment reminders, appointment confirmations, messages from the providers, lab and x-ray results, etc. You will also be able to pay your bill at this portal in a secure setting. To get started, from the Patient Services tab, click on Online Patient Services. For additional help, contact bmendez@abcdpediatrics.com, or call Barbara Mendez at 566-4777, X213. We are planning to add even more services to the portal, including giving you the ability to request appointments online, ask a biller or clinician, handle your referrals, request medical records, and more.
Employee Appreciation Retreat in April
It has been a very difficult year for all of us at the practice as we have seen our patient population through the H1N1 Flu, and the 15,000 flu vaccines we have administered to our patient population this season. You might recall that our practice saw the second confirmed case of H1N1 in the entire state. Our staff has worked long hours under stressful conditions and gave their all over this time. To reward them, the practice will be closing from Thursday, April 22 through Monday, April 26, and taking the entire staff on a Carribbean cruise. We will have a skeleton crew here to see our newborns in the hospital, and two providers will be available Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday to see a very limited number of urgently sick children. No other services will be available during this time. In order to help us prepare for our time off, we ask for your cooperation by making sure that you have everything you need prior to 4/22, including prescription refills, referrals, and all forms. During our time away, we are working with the urgent care facilities in Stone Oak and Schertz to insure these facilities are staffed up to help you. We thank you for your help during this time, and hope you will join us in thanking our staff for a job very well done.
New Forms Processing Fee
ABCD Pediatrics is constantly working on ways to cut down on unreimbursed administrative expenses at the practice. Some time ago we found it necessary to begin charging a minimal fee for the thousands of forms requests that we receive. We now find that the cost of maintaining these small unpaid fee charges in our billing system is unsustainable. Therefore, effective May 1, 2010, we will be adding a processing fee to any form charge that is not paid at the time of service. To avoid this processing fee, simply pay for the service ($5 in most cases) at the time it is ordered or delivered. We thank you in adavnce for your cooperation in this matter.
Pediatric Advisor Now Available
Take a look at the new ABCD Pediatric Advisor , a new tool containing health information and advice on hundreds of health topics that are of interest to our patients and parents. The information is listed alphabetically by subject, can be easily printed, and comes in both English and Spanish versions in most cases. Need to know what to use on that nasty diaper rash or sunburn, need help with how to comfort your child during a medical procedure, or help with how to determine how serious that fever is? You can find it all and more at the new ABCD Pediatric Advisor. You will want to bookmark this very helpful site to refer to again and again.
